TECHNICAL ARTIST

 

Little Red Dog Games is looking for a Technical Artist to help our art team translate our aesthetic vision to the in-game visuals.

Our art team is composed of a mix of industry veterans and new graduates working on innovative new 3D strategy games.  This is a full-time remote-working position with flexible hours, something we do well as we’ve been developing games remotely for almost a decade. We aim to provide a healthy and fun work environment that is diverse and inclusive.

Responsibilities‍

  • Assist in asset integration while maintaining the artistic vision and technical requirements

  • Create and maintain custom shaders that define the Little Red Dog Games look

  • Assist the artists & designers with tool development

  • Review & help optimize assets, assist in creating clear processes for our game asset pipeline

  • If you have a dog, they must attend teleconferences with you.

‍Qualifications‍

  • You have at least 3 years in game development

  • You have scripting knowledge in C#, possibly including mel or python

  • You have experience in shader development & maintenance

  • You have advanced knowledge of the Unity game engine

  • Ideally, you have proficiency in one or more 3D packages (3Ds Max, Maya, Blender, or similar)

  • Nice to have: you have experience creating visual special effects.

GAME DESIGNER

 

Little Red Dog Games is an established international remote studio that is seeking a Game Designer to join our team and conceptualize gameplay features, systems, and game mechanics.

We have significant experience working with partners all over the world, as well as strict no-crunch policies and our company philosophy is grounded in the ideal of a healthy work-life balance and ethical game development.

 

Responsibilities‍

  • Work on developing and refining novel game mechanics.  

  • Collaborate with writers to ensure narrative/story elements complement and support the game design.

  • Identify, offer feedback/solutions, and iterate on existing game design shortcomings.

  • Work closely with designers, artists and engineers to provide technical, creative, and scheduling feedback.

  • Clearly communicate updates and concerns to the Executive Producer.

  • Transform high-level ideas into accurate, intelligible, and quantified specification.

  • Routinely collect feedback from user-testing, the development team and design management.

  • Identify solutions to expressed problems that won't negatively impact other systems or mechanics.

‍Qualifications‍

  • 5+ years of commercial video game design experience.

  • An excellent verbal and written communicator, comfortable liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • A deep passion for strategy games, particularly strategy games made by small teams.  You’ve got a favorite ‘mech, a preferred civilization or a polished deck to talk about.

  • If you have a dog, they must attend teleconferences with you.

  • Nice to have:  Experience working with distributed teams.
